Benign skin growth removal services at Aura Dermatologie

Say goodbye to undesired lumps and bumps!

At Aura Dermatologie we perform skin surgery to remove different kinds of benign growths, including moles, skin tags, cysts, lipomas and milia. If you’re bothered by skin irregularities, our team at Aura Dermatologie can help you decide if skin surgery is the right treatment for you. During your consultation with our dermatologist Dr. Amina Bougrine, we will discuss the risks and benefits of treatment options that are relevant to your situation.Let’s look at the various services available for benign skin growth removal.

What skin growth removal services are available at Aura Dermatologie?

We provide services for the removal of the following types of lesions at our office:

  • Unwanted moles: mole removal is a common surgical procedure that can be performed for aesthetic purposes if the mole is unsightly or bothersome.
  • Skin tags:skin tags are benign and can appear on any area of the body, including the face, neck, and skin folds.  Surgical removal is the most commonly used removal technique at our office.
  • Cysts: these keratin filled lumps may develop under the skin anywhere on the body and can be removed to improve the appearance. Our team has experience removing cysts and will counsel you on the procedure during your consultation.
  • Lipomas: lipomas are fatty lumps that can develop under the skin and are harmless. However, if it affects your appearance, our team at Aura Dermatologie can remove them with a surgical procedure.
  • Milia: milia extraction is a standard procedure for removing tiny white bumps on the skin. These bumps are caused by trapped keratin under the skin’s surface and can be easily removed using gentle extraction. An alternative is electrosurgery which we also offer at our office.

Why is a consultation necessary before my procedure?

The purpose of the consultation is to make a diagnosis and assess your unique situation. This allows our dermatologist to discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure in your specific case, so you can make an informed decision before undergoing surgery.

Following your consultation, our dermatologist may recommend not to remove the growth at all if it is harmless and the risk of an unsightly scar is high because of the way your skin may heal in that specific part of the body.

In some cases, patients may consult for a growth that they think is benign but the dermatologist – following their assessment – may recommend further evaluation with an ultrasound or a biopsy before proceeding further.

In other cases, referral to another specialist may be necessary for the removal of the growth that is bothering you. This may be the case for example, if you have a cyst or lipoma in a delicate part of the body where it is close to important structures that risk being damaged during the surgery such as nerves, tendons or large blood vessels. Typically, if you wish to remove cysts or lipomas on the face, around the eyes, on the neck, on the hands and feet, or overlying a joint our dermatologist is likely to refer you to the appropriate specialist such as an ophthalmologist, a head and neck surgeon, a plastic surgeon or an orthopedic surgeon.

Feel free to call or email us for more information prior to your visit if you think any of these restrictions may apply to you.

Can my procedure be done on the same day as my consultation?
